CD Review: Annie Dressner Introduces Us To "Strangers"

Singer/songwriter Annie Dressner is releasing her debut album this month. The album boasts the first "Facebook Inspired" song entitled "Strangers Who Knew Each Other's Names". The album flows very smoothly with the combination of low-key acoustic instrumentation and the innocence of Annie's voice.

The album starts off with "Fly" that carries similarities to the folk-rock band Bright Eyes as Anne's way with worlds reflects that of Connor Oberst. The country-folk sounds of "September" and "When I See Stars" is where Annie's voice and lyrics shine. Annie goes a little alternative on "Cigarette" but counters that with the gentleness of "With You". The album's title song "Strangers Who Knew Each Other's Names" has some great, thought-provoking lyrics when you think about the subject matter of online dating. Annie mixes up the tempos with the back-porch sounds of "Hardy Boys" and the alternative rock of "Find Me" before closing with the quiet questions of "How Am I Supposed To Be?".

Annie Dressner's debut album will be released on July 19. you can pre-order the album from her website, There you will also find song samples, videos, tour dates, and more.
