The duo of Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) and James Mercer (The Shins) return with their second album as the group known as Broken Bells. The new release, "After The Disco," became available in January through Columbia Records and looks to follow the success of their self-titled debut album.
The eleven-song release start off strong with the heavy industrial beats of "Perfect World," before turning toward a more eighties-era pop feel with the title-song "After The Disco." The album's first single "Holding On For Life" is definitely built for the dance floor with its infectious beat and Mercer's Bee Gees-type vocals. Burton and Mercer work their magic on the slow rock groove of "Leave It Alone," then return with the big, grand Broadway sound of "The Changing Lights." The light, airiness of "Lazy Wonderland" just floats on by before finishing up with loungy-sway of "The Remains Of Rock And Roll."
The Broken Bells are currently on tour in Canada and the Northeast before heading over to Europe at the end of March. For a complete list of tour dates and to find out more about their new album "After The Disco," please visit brokenbells.com.
