The American indie pop duo She & Him released their fifth studio album on December 2nd through Columbia Records. The duo of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel have become one of pop music's most welcoming couple as they interpret American Standards with a loving passion for these songs. Their albums have grown in popularity since they formed in 2008 and anticipation for a new She & Him album is always high.
Their latest album "Classics" was recorded live with a 20-piece orchestra as Deschanel channels Ella Fitzgerald on the gentle opener "Stars Fell On Alabama." They get their smooth folk rock groove going with the Carole King original "Oh No, Not My Baby" and then bring on the jazz with Dusty Springfield's "Stay Awake." Listening to this album just melts away the troubles of the world as you are calmed by Deschanel's vocals and Ward's subtle song structure and accent vocals as in "Time After Time." The most heart wrenching song on the album is She & Him's somber delivery of The Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody" before Deschanel struts her stuff on the old-fashion country feel of "I'll Never Be Free." The album closes with the appropriately titled "We'll Meet Again" as we look forward to their next new album of classics. To find out more about She & Him's latest release, please visit sheandhim.com.
