CD Review: The Musical Battle Of Jim White Vs. The Packway Handle Band Will Get Your Blood Pumping

From Athens, GA comes the bluegrass band The Packway Handle Band with their latest album "Take It Like A Man." The story goes that the band sought out artist/producer Jim White to produce their next record and upon working with White, The Packway Handle Band discovered that White had a number of bluegrass songs just waiting to be discovered. The two connected and created what is sure to be the front-runner for best bluegrass album of the year.
The new eleven-song release begins with "Smack Dab In A Big Tornado," which explains your emotions upon hearing this album for the first time. You easily get swept away by the fun of "Corn Pone Refugee," and the first single "Not A Song" is addictive as any Mumford & Sons or Avett Brothers tune. Before you know it, you'll be tapping your foot to the stomp rhythm of "Gravity Won't Fail" and shaking your head to the punk-like speed of "Blood On The Fiddle" as Jim White and The Packway Handle Band guarantee you a good time.
