CD Review: New Heavy Metal Music Arriving From Hammer King, Third Ion And Entropy O.A.C.

European metal band Hammer King are releasing their new album "Kingdom Of The Hammer King" on May 5th through Cruz Del Sur Music. With veteran musicians handling these hard rock riffs, you'll have no trouble enjoying their music and discovering this new band. The new storied album begins with chapter 1 "Kingdom Of The Hammer King" as the music fits in perfectly with the classic New Wave Of British Heavy Metal sound, alongside such bands as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. The tempo quickens with "I Am The King" and the marching rhythm of "Chancellor Of Glory" shows a maturity in their delivery of these epic sounding numbers. The theme of the "hammer king" flows through all of the songs as the energy is locked on high with songs like "Blood Angels" and "Figure In The Black." The album closes with the final chapter, the seven-minute prog-metal epic "Glory To The Hammer King." To find out more about the latest news from Hammer King, please visit their Facebook page at
Also arriving in May is the debut album from prog-metal band, Third Ion. The new release entitled "13/8Bit" will be released on May 25th through Glasstone Records and features members of The Devin Townsend Band and Into Eternity. The album came about over the two band's love for progressive rock music and video games. Things blast off with the title song "13/8Bit" which quickens the pulse and carries a heavy vibe. The band builds the intensity of "Capitol Spill" without overpowering the music, then mixes tempos on the electronic metal appeal of "Zero Mass." Third Ion look to take you on a journey with the orchestrated funk metal of "Particle Displacement Mechanism," before closing with the aggressive electronic instrumental of "Van hAlien." Finally, at the end of this month, we see the latest release from the Wisconsin metal band Entropy O.A.C. entitled "Dark Clouds And Clarity." The new three-song EP begins with "Failure To Thrive" as the song definitely delivers the energy of heavy metal, but a bigger punch is needed from the rhythm section to demand the listener's attention. The band only gives a small glimpse of their talents, but should have a strong future with the heaviness of the closer "Realm of Grey."
