CD Review: Hot New Heavy Metal Music From Undergang, Majestic Downfall And King Heavy

Grindcore, death-metal band Undergang are releasing their third full-length album entitled "Doden Laeger Alle Sar." The new album was recorded at Earhammer Studio and California about a year ago, following the band's three month tour of the U.S. The band's down-tuned, old style of death metal is heard in the near seven-minute juggernaut "Jomfrublodbad." The growling vocals of "Radbraekket" and doom/grindcore metal appeal of "Lemlaestelsens Kunst" showcases the attraction of Undergang's music, while the band sticks close to their roots. Also arriving soon is the latest album from Mexican death-metal band Majestic Downfall entitled "...When Dead." It will be released on August 7th through Pulverised Records and features five songs that look to push the boundaries of progressive death/thrash metal. The sixteen-minute "Escape My Thought" mixes tempos and takes the listener on a roller coaster ride of speed and power. They attack your senses with "Doors," before closing with the more melodic build up of "The Rain Of The Dead." Finally from South America comes the self-titled debut album from King Heavy on the Cruz Del Sur Music label. The new seven-song release begins with the grand march of "La Gragola" as blazing guitars and intense drumming look to quicken your pulse. The grand design of "As Dawn Broke On The Day," showcase a maturity to their songwriting and they incorporate tempo changes, drawing similarities to later-day Black Sabbath. The metal attack of "Wounds" and the eleven-minute closer "He Who Spoke In Tongues," save the band's best work for the end as they are sure to make an impact on the metal music scene.
