CD review: C.C. Finds Himself "In The Moment" With New Album

From the California coast comes the latest release from indie-R&B artist C.C. (Cornell Carter) titled "In The Moment." It will be released on January 15th through his own label, CDC Productions. C.C. has worked alongside famed artists Carlos Santana and Narada Michael Walden and has opened shows for the legends James Brown and Ray Charles.

His new thirteen-song release begins with the up-tempo R&B/pop flow of "Beautiful," before C.C. looks to "bridge the gap between the old school and the new school" R&B/Soul music with songs like "Lady Of My Dreams" and "My Folks." C.C. gets help from Narada Michael Walden on the smooth cover of "Lala Means I Love You," Rich Aguon lends a hand on the funk-fueled "Sunshine" and Aaron Greene duets with C.C. on the addictive rhythm of "Too Late." The album's first single, "Bobblehead," sounds as if is came from Prince's songbook as C.C. brings out the funk in full force. He slows the tempo down for the smooth lyrics of "Show Me," before closing with the seven-plus minute of "Zoom (Stepper's Mix)" that showcases some of C.C.'s best vocals on the entire album.
