Time Life
continues their "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live" series with volume 3.
It was released on November 18th and features ten more iconic,
one-of-a-kind performances that were performed throughout the years at
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremonies. Volume 1 was released on
180-gram purple vinyl, Volume 2 was also released on 180-gram red-orange
swirled vinyl and volume 3 follows with black and white marble swirled
vinyl.
This release features more live jams compared to the past two volumes. The set
kicks off with Carl Perkins performing "Blue Suede Shoes" with a backing
band featuring Keith Richards and Paul Butterfield. Stevie Wonder teams
up with Joan Osbourne and Keith John for a funky, live version of Marvin
Gaye's "I Heard It Through The Grapevine." The other outstanding Hall
of Fame jam features blues masters Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt and Robbie
Robertson coming together for a rocking short version of "Sweet Home
Chicago." One of the most touching songs to appear on any of the volumes
is Damien Rice's acoustic version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," which
has extra meaning since Cohen's death earlier this month.
This
album, and series, are packed with amazing, once-in-a-lifetime
performances that definitely deserved a place in your vinyl collection.
