One of
the first new releases of 2017 features almost a dozen of the best
female guitarists in the rock genre. A new compilation titled "She
Rocks, Vol. 1" will be available on January 20th, through Steve Vai's own Favored Nations Label. Vai is also the executive producer of this new release, which co-insides with the 2017 "She Rocks Awards."
The new
eleven-song release begins with the uplifting guitar sounds of
"Transmogrify" from Orianthi (Michael Jackson, Alice Cooper) and the
independent musician Yasi Hofer on "Cosmic Stars." Veteran rocker Lita
Ford teams up with the all-female tribute band, Lez Zeppelin for a
rocking version of "The Lemon Song." Another one of Michael Jackson's
former guitarist, Jennifer Batten provides "In The Aftermath" from her
most recent solo album and then current Alice Cooper guitarist, Nita Strauss
rocks out with her skills on the instrumental "Pandemonium." The compilation closes
with a couple classically trained artists, Gretchen Menn, who delivers the sonic
wake-up call of "Scrap Metal" and then Yvette Young provides the technically
outstanding piece "Hydra." To find out more about "She Rocks, Vol. 1,"
