Blues
guitarist, singer, songwriter Popa Chubby recently released his new
studio album titled "The Catfish." It falls in-line with the other
20-plus studio and live albums he has released over the course of the
last twenty years. His latest release mixes together ten new original
songs with two classic covers. Popa Chubby adds a bit of funk and
R&B to his blues style on the openers "Going Downtown See My Old Gal
Sue" and "Good Thing." He turns the Buddy Holly classic "Bye Bye Love"
into a bluesy, reggae instrumental, before returning to the pure, slow
blues of "Wes Is More" as Popa Chubby gets to show-off the talents of
his band.
Popa
Chubby pay homage to the late, great Lemmy Kilmister with the up-tempo rocker
"Motorhead Saved My Life." While the song may feel out of place in
Popa's catalog, it's a great energy builder, before slowing back down
for the "Blues Of Charlie." The album finishes with the guitar-boogie
shuffle of "The Catfish" and an acoustic cover of Robert Johnson's
"C'mon In My Kitchen." To find out more about Popa Chubby and his new
