L.A.
singer/songwriter Eleni Mandell will receive a well-deserved tribute on
January 20th, when some of her fellow singer/songwriters release the
benefit album "Unsung Heroes: Songs Of Eleni Mandell." This
new release will only be available digitally and co-insides with a benefit show on
January 25th which features many of the artists appearing on this album. This album is to benefit the "Plastic Pollution Coalition."
The new
17-song release begins with the most widely known artist on the album,
Jackson Browne, performing the slow blues of "My Twin." All of the songs
on this release were written by Mandell and range from the silky,
slow jazz of "Beautiful" by Lera Lynn to the acoustic folk-pop of
"Girls" performed by Priscilla Ahn. The songs cover Mandell's entire
career as Benji Hughes turns "What Love Can Do" into a dark-toned,
alternative-pop revelation, which seeps into Mike Andrews' waltz-like
delivery of "Ferris Wheel." The sultry vocals of Inara George for the song
"Yellow Light" just wraps around your head and doesn't let go. The
wonderful folk tones of "I Can See The Future" by Philip Little
showcases Eleni Mandell's beautiful songwriting. Eleni then joins Milo Jones on
the album closer "Empty Locket" which harks back to the early days of
folk duos.
The
new digital-only release of "Unsung Heroes: Songs Of Eleni Mandell"
will be available on January 20th, through Yep Roc Records. To find out more about this new release, please visit yeproc.com.
