Andy
Summers, former guitarist for The Police, is preparing to release his
14th studio album titled "Triboluminescence" on March 24th. This album
will continue in the new direction Summers started in 2015 with his last
album "Metal Dog." The album has a much more ambient reflection than
his past releases as Summers keeps the music fresh with multi-layered
instrumentation and rhythms that provide the perfect backdrop for his
guitar work.
The new
9-song release begins with the ambient tones of "If Anything" as
Summers' guitar solo highlights the opening track. The music gets much
more interesting with the layered sounds of the nearly ten-minute
instrumental, "Triboluminescence." He gets the feeling of jazz fusion
flowing through "Adinkra" and the worldly tones of "Shadowland," before reaching
"Haunted Dolls," which sounds like a long lost outtake from The Police
era. The album closes with the funky beats of "Gigantopithecus" as
Summers ignites the energy of his solo, then the gentle, psychedelic,
backwards guitar of "Garden Of The Sea" finishes your adventure. To find
