American
indie-rock band The Shins just released their fifth studio album titled
"Heartworms." The first tease of new music came last Halloween when The
Shins released "Dead Alive" to the delight of fans since it has been
five years since their last full-length album. "Heartworms" is also the
first release since their debut album to be produced by lead
singer/guitarist James Mercer.
Their new
11-song release begins with the up-tempo, pop tones of "Name For You,"
which hit #2 on the Adult Alternative Singles chart because of it's
addictive rhythm and nostalgic feel. The Shins experiment with the
driving beats of "Painting A Hole" and the electronics of "Cherry
Hearts," before slowing down for the amazing, acoustic folk/rock of
"Mildenhall." They continue with the sixties vibe of "Rubber Ballz,"
before switching gears for the album's first single "Dead Alive," which
has a darker, acoustic tone that showcases another side to Mercer's
songwriting. The album finishes with the gentle sway of "The Fear" as
the song's music glides through your mind. The Shins have a few dates
lined-up in Europe before returning to the U.S. this summer. To find out
