The Neal
Morse Band recently released their longest, most involved,
mind-expanding album late last year titled "The Similitude Of A Dream."
It has received rave reviews from critics everywhere, with many saying
it is the band's best album to date. Now, The Neal Morse Band dive back
in time to celebrate "Morsefest 2015" with a soon to be released 2
Blu-ray or 2 DVD set with an additional 4CDs which cover both nights of
the band's live performances.
The band
ran through 30 songs from throughout Neal Morse's career over
the course of two nights and
invited 38 musicians on stage with them to create a special prog-rock orchestra. The first video covers the band's first night
as they kick things off with "The Call." The video quality is amazing as
you are right on stage with The Neal Morse Band, watching these
musical magicians at work. Songs like "Go The Way You Go" and
"MacArthur Park" easily push past the 13-minute mark as you just become in
awe of the amazing musicianship within the band. Morse introduces songs
from his solo career with the Christian rock appeal of "New Jerusalem"
and "Temple Of The Living God," as the additional choir gives the music a
gospel-like quality. The additional singers and musicians bring songs
like "Solid As The Sun" and "12" to bigger heights as they sound even
better in this live setting than their studio versions. The first video
(first night) closes with the emotional build-up reprise of "The Temple
Of The Living God."
The
second night features a much shorter set list with only eight songs as
most of them last between 7 and 17 minutes. The night begins with the
epic piece, "The Door" as the band expands upon the live setting with
their iconic progressive rock sound. Neal Morse delivers this Cristian
rocker to an audience that adores and expects only the best from this
band. He gets right up to fans, displaying his guitar talents on "The
Conflict My Heart" and drummer Mike Portnoy leads the band through the
intense playing of "At The End Of The Day." Morse invites fellow Spock's
Beard member Nick D'Virgilio to join him for the classic prog-rocker
"Wind At My Back," before the night closes with "The Wirlwind Medley"
from Morse's other band Transatlantic.
The Neal
Morse Band are heading back out on the road in Europe at the end of the
month. For a complete list of live dates and to find out more about
