Famed organ/keyboard virtuoso Robert Walter has gathered together once again his 20th Congress band for his latest release "Spacesuit." The new album is due September 21st through The Royal Potato Family label and features 9-tracks filled with rock/funk/jazz fusion. After a short introduction for take off, you are blasted away with the swift speed of the title song, "Spacesuit." Walter allows the rest of his band to take their lead on this opening track, before setting the pace for the instrumental, storied tale of "Nerva And Dumbo." The band slow the tempo down for the steady scale work of "13th Key," before getting a little funky on the rhythm of "Chalk Giant." Robert Walter's 20th Congress close out their new album with thick bass groove of "Current Futures" and the six-minute jazz-rock fusion of "Most Of All Of Us." Also arriving in September is the debut album titled "Superette" from bass guitarist extraordinaire Chris Lightcap. His new album features 11-tracks and help from fellow artists Nels Cline and John Medeski. Beginning with the song "Selector," we get instant gratification from Lightcap and his band on this quick moving opening number. The album continues with the jazz vibe of "She Walked In" and the experimental movement of "Far Away Planet." Chris Lightcap and his band extend their sound on the epic pieces "While You Were Out" and "Calling On Cars," before the rockabilly cover of Link Wray's "Ace Of Spades." The album finishes with a couple more cover songs, the gentle touch of Alexander Pence's "All Come Out To Meet Her" and the quiet build-up of Neil Young's "Birds."
