Omnivore Recordings Collects Songs For A "Nighthawk Reggae Joint" Release

On November 15th, Omnivore Recordings will release the first-ever compilation of the reggae label, Nighthawk Records. This new twenty-track release titled "Send I A Lion: A Nighthawk Reggae Joint" is a great "best of" presentation of the Nighthawk Records label, which was started in 1974 by Leroy Jodie Pierson. Omnivore Recordings have previously released former albums by artists like Culture, Ethiopian, Gladiators and Winston Jarrett, but this new release also introduces you to artists like Wailing Souls, Junior Byles and Morwells.

The laid-back vibe of Justin Hinds & The Dominoes' "Weeping Eyes" and the soulful melody of "4000 Years" by The Mighty Diamonds are a perfect pair of songs to represent the Nighthhawk Records label. Ethiopian & His All Stars bring in a pop aspect with the addition of horns on "Trains To Skaville," while their song "Straight On Rastafari" is as addictive as anything else that was coming out of the studios in Jamaica. The new compilation closes with a raw recording of The Mighty Diamonds's audition of their song "4000 Years."
